Python Backend Developer
Full-time · Ghent (On-site)
Wattloop provides instant diagnostics for end-of-life EV batteries. Our plug-and-play system assesses battery safety and state-of-health on the spot, pushing all data to the cloud — enabling faster decisions on repair, repurposing, and resale. We serve recyclers, dismantlers, and deep discharge operators who need reliable, affordable alternatives to diagnostic equipment.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain the REST APIs that power our diagnostic platform
- Manage the data pipeline from device to cloud
- Integrate new battery models into our assessment system
- Own core parts of our Python backend end-to-end
Tech you'll work with
- Python (Flask, Django, FastAPI)
- PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy
- CAN/UDS automotive protocols (big plus)
- Docker
Who you are
- You like having real ownership over what you build
- You're comfortable making calls with incomplete information and iterating fast
- You want to see your work matter, and learn fast
- Most of all, you enjoy what you do and who you do it with
Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional Python experience
- Strong OOP, API design, and database skills (schema design, query optimization)
- Comfortable owning features end-to-end with minimal hand-holding
- Automotive protocol experience (CAN, UDS) is a plus

- Support social media content creation and management
- Help with marketing campaigns and outreach
- Assist with event preparation and coordination
- Contribute to website and marketing materials

- Creative with good communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field
- Familiarity with social media platforms
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Bonus: experience with design tools (Canva, Figma, etc.)
